Devils Re-Sign Five

NEWARK, NJ (WFAN) - In the midst of off-season struggles, The New Jersey Devils have announced the re-signing of five players. Forwards Steve Bernier, Ryan Carter, Stephen Gionta and Cam Janssen, and defenseman Peter Harrold will be receiving new contracts. The announcement was made by President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello and as per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.

Bernier, 27, Carter, 28, and Harold, 29, will enter their second season with the Devils. Both Bernier and Carter recorded seven points in this season's playoffs while Harold recorded 26 points in 61 games with the Devils' AHL affiliate, the Albany Devils.

Gionta, 28, enters his seventh season with the Devils organization and, along with Bernier and Carter, tallied seven points in this season's playoffs.

Janssen, 28, played two seasons with the Devils from 2005-08 before being traded to the St. Louis Blues. In 2011, the forward became a free agent after his contract with the Blues ended and was re-acquired by the Devils.
