OCEANPORT, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – The New Jersey governor’s short temper showed again on Saturday.
Chris Christie called a reporter an “idiot” for asking a question at a press conference. The insult came after the governor’s press aides said that he would only take questions about the Monmouth County water emergency.READ MORE: NYPD: Delivery Worker Stabbed To Death, E-Bike Stolen Near Sara D. After that topic was exhausted, a reporter asked Christie about the special joint session of the legislature that he’s called for Monday.
Christie was none too happy with the inquiry.
“Did I say on topic?” Christie said to the reporter. “Are you stupid? On topic, on topic. Next question. Thank you all very much and I’m sorry for the idiot over there.”READ MORE: 'NYC Play Fair' Rally Held At Barclays Center For Student-Athletes Unable To See Scouts Due To COVID Restrictions
The reporter tried again but Christie cut him off before walking away.
It’s not the first time that the governor has called someone who challenged him an idiot. He did the same to a former Navy Seal who asked him about the proposed mergers of several state universities.
As for that special session, he’s set to make his case for a middle-class tax cut tomorrow.MORE NEWS: Police: Suspect In Killing Of New Rochelle Taxi Driver Taken Into Custody After Shootout In Brooklyn
