Third Sweltering Heat Wave Of The Summer Settling In On Our Area

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It's another scorcher.

Temperatures are once again above normal in New York City and many of the surrounding areas. The mercury rose to 94 degrees Thursday afternoon. However, it isn't as humid as it's going to get.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 71 degrees tonight, CBS 2's John Elliott reported. Friday and Saturday are also expected to be in the 90s -- 92 and 94 degrees. If the forecast holds true, it will officially be a heat wave. With the humidity, however, it will feel as though temps are in the triple digits.

"Hot weather is good, but not in the city. It's good to be elsewhere," one man told CBS 2's Vanessa Murdock.

"I want to go home," said one woman.

"The winter is good, because I can throw something extra on. The heat, I can only take so much off," said Sheila Gray. "I like the cool better than the heat."

"I actually grew up in a desert, but it was dry, so it was completely different. Once you put the heat on top of it, I don't know, I guess my tolerance is down," Natalia Newman told Murdock.
