MANHASSET, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A Long Island man has been arrested after police said he caused “extensive damage” when he drove his car onto a Manhasset golf course.
Chris Meier, 49, is charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and aggravated driving while intoxicated.READ MORE: At Least 2 Injured In Upper West Side Shooting
Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, Meier “intentionally drove” his Ford Taurus onto the Deepdale Golf Club golf course, hitting at least two occupied golf carts, Nassau County police said.
He then drove around the course until his car got stuck in a sand trap, according to police. No one was injured, but police said the damage he allegedly caused to the course is estimated to be “well over $10,000.”
