Thirteen People Arrested Inside Of Four Hours At DWI Checkpoint On Long Island

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A sobriety checkpoint on Long Island conducted by the Suffolk County Police, New York State Police, and MTA Police netted thirteen arrests on Friday night and Saturday morning.

The checkpoint on Route 110 in Huntington Station was intended to prevent injuries and fatalities, 662 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

Twelve people were charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and one man was also charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs and Alcohol, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

The individuals charged at the checkpoint will be arraigned on July 14.
