Rex Ryan Discusses Dramatic Weight Loss

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan has a very different look from the one he had when the team hired him.

In March of 2010, he had lap-band surgery and has lost 105 pounds.

He said the weight loss has changed his life.

He said when he got on the scale on day, he was 348 pounds and knew he had to do something about his weight.

Ryan tried exercise and diet, but said he succeeded (and failed) about 50 times.

He said the lap-pand procedure took one day and he was back at work full-time the next day.

"The biggest investment you can make is in yourself," Ryan told The Couch.

He said he's excited about the upcoming season, featuring Tim Tebow.

He said he thinks this will be the best season since he took over as coach.

Ryan is on a media tour promoting the lap-band surgery. He said he's paid to endorse the product, but made clear that doesn't change the results he's had.
