Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus Welcomes Baby #2, Shows Up Minutes Before Concert In Scrubs

A big congratulations going out to Rascal Flatts' Jay Demarcus and his wife, Allison on the birth of baby #2. The Changed Tourin Detroit tonight (Friday) was nearly a country music duo performance, but fortunately though still in hospital scrubs, Jay made it to the stage just in time.

99.5 WYCD’s Steve Grunwald spoke exclusively with Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney before the show tonight in Detroit, about the birth of Jay DeMarcus' second child. "Jay got pregnant. He got up this morning, jumped on our airplane, flew home, and had the baby. Now he is flying back for the show," Gary and Joe jokingly explained. Gary added "he woke up in a panic, you know, when his water broke.”

Gary explained he found out that Jay was having his baby this morning, when Jay called him and said "Dude, listen. I'm gonna try and make it back for the show, but we're going in. Allison's going to the hospital. We're gonna have the baby." When asked about the name of baby DeMarcus, Gary and Joe said "the last thing we heard was Gary Don. Gary Don Junior.”

Baby boy DeMarcus was born at approximately 4 p.m. and Rascal Flatts took the stage at 9:30 p.m. Jay did make it to the show on time, arriving by helicopter to DTE Energy Music Theatre and performed in scrubs with his hospital band still on his wrist. It was definitely a whirlwind day for him.
