NYPD Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Rape Charge On Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn police officer was arraigned Thursday afternoon on charges of raping his ex-girlfriend on Staten Island.
Officer Arthur Roldan, 28, was arrested late Wednesday night on rape, menacing and assault charges, police said. Roldan raped the woman at gunpoint and knifepoint and then punched her in the face, according to the criminal complaint.
Roldan pleaded not guilty and his family and attorney said he is innocent. He was released on $20,000 bail.

The alleged attack happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on Father-Capodanno Boulevard on Staten Island. Roldan was off duty at the time of the alleged attack.
A six-year veteran of the force, Roldan lives on Staten Island, but is assigned to the 78th Precinct in Park Slope. He has been suspended without pay as the investigation continues.

"I'm just a little depressed about the whole situation...they're a good family," one neighbor told CBS 2's Tony Aiello. "I don't have anything negative to say about them. I'm just shocked that this happened."
The judge also warned Roldan not to have any contact with his accuser and if he violates that, his bail will jump from $20,000 to $200,000.
Just last month, former NYPD officer Michael Pena, also 28 years old, was sentenced to 75 years to life in prison after he admitted to grabbing and raping a school teacher in an apartment courtyard in upper Manhattan in August of last year.
