Mets' Johan Santana Impressive In Brooklyn Rehab Outing

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Johan Santana threw 38 pitches and three scoreless innings at MCU Park in his rehab appearance for the Brooklyn Cyclones on Sunday.

He struck out one batter and walked another, while only allowing one hit to the Auburn Doubledays.

"I feel good. My body had a chance to recover, Santana said to SNY. "I really needed that. I threw all my pitches and commanded my fastball."

The Cyclones defeated the Doubledays, 8-0.  Umpires called the game in the eighth inning due to rain.  A full game wrap-up can be viewed on the Brooklyn Cyclones' official website.

After leaving the mound, Santana threw in the Cyclones' bullpen to complete his workload of 90 pitches.

Santana landed on the disabled list on July 21, but the Mets believe he's ready to return to the majors.

The Mets expect Santana to be activated on Saturday and pitch against the Houston Astros at Citi Field.
