Giants' Hakeem Nicks Running Routes, Remains 'On Target' For Opener

ALBANY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks was seen running routes Tuesday for the first time since breaking his foot this spring.

"I'm exciting about running some routes today and getting to see where I'm at," Nicks told reporters in Albany before testing his right foot. "It's going to be exciting for me just to see where I'm at."

The 24-year-old said he had mostly been running in a straight line. He mixed it up at training camp Monday by going in circles.

"If they choose to let me go out there and do some things next week as far as running routes on air with the quarterbacks we'll see how that goes," Nicks said. "Right now, we're just going to see how today goes and take it from there."

Nicks maintained his goal is to be ready for the Sept. 5 opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

"Definitely. Definitely still on target," he said. "No setbacks. Everything's been going good. I've been running every day, no setbacks, feeling good. Getting better."
