MANALAPAN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – It was an emotional plea from the mother of Robert Dunbar, who is accused of being involved in the shooting of an off-duty NYPD detective inside of Dunbar’s estranged wife’s home.

Neighbors said that at about 11:45 p.m. on Friday on Taylors Mills Road in Manalapan, Dunbar showed up at his former home to confront his wife and her new boyfriend, who is an NYPD detective from Brooklyn.READ MORE: Exclusive: Orange County COVID Vaccine Site Ready To Go, But Organizers Say State Won't Send Them Any Doses
Gunshots were fired before Dunbar ran from the scene, and an all-night manhunt managed to elude police.
The detective was treated for a wound to his shoulder and was released from a local hospital.
