Officers told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria the dispute leading to the stabbing was likely over money. Neighbors told D'Auria Anne Cohen had a lot of money and her son was always asking for a handout.

Police said the 64-year-old Bensonhurst woman was taken to Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

One of Anne Cohen's neighbors said she's not surprised the son is accused of killing his mother.

"Twice they had the SWAT team, he was holding her at knifepoint here," the neighbor told D'Auria.

The neighbor also said Cohen's two sons were socially inept.

"They were very sheltered, they never were allowed out. They went from the house to the car to school and back, private schools," the neighbor told D'Auria.

The 31-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder.
