U.S. Air Force Week Underway In New York City

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Fighter jet flyovers are planned through Tuesday, to mark Air Force Week 2012.

The Air Force Thunderbirds are conducting the flyovers.

Things kicked off Saturday, when F-16D fighter jets flew in formation over Yankee Stadium before their game against the Boston Red Sox.

There was another flyover Sunday at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in conjunction with the opening ceremony for Air Force Week NYC.

The Mets will get a flyover on Monday evening, ahead of their game against the Colorado Rockies. And on Tuesday, the military jets will conduct a flyover ahead of the Brooklyn Cyclones game.

All flyovers are weather-permitting, and all local airports have been notified.
