Police: Man Wanted For Impersonating A Police Officer, Robbing Spa In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The NYPD is looking for a suspect wanted for impersonating a police officer and committing robbery in midtown Manhattan.

Just after 10:00 p.m. on July 21, a man knocked on the door of Manhattan Rainbow Spa on West 45th Street, police said. The victim, a 53-year-old Asian woman, answered the door, and the man allegedly showed her a shield and told her that he was a cop.

Once inside the spa, the man -- believed to be in his 20s -- demanded money, police said. The woman gave up the money and the suspect fled the scene, authorities confirmed. No injuries were reported.

If anyone has any information in regard to this incident, they are encouraged to call NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at  800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website here.
