First-Ever Bacon Fest Held In Upstate New York

HUDSON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - If sizzling, crispy salty bacon makes you drool - there's a festival for that.

New York State's first Bacon Fest NY is being held Sunday at the Henry Hudson Waterfront Park in Hudson. It comes one day after National Bacon Day, set aside to honor that salty, smoky, not-just-for-breakfast-anymore staple.

Mikko and Brian Cook dreamed up the festival that will feature bacon used in everything from appetizer to dessert.

There will be bacon-infused Rice Krispie treats, chocolate-covered bacon bits and bacon cookies as well as other variations.

And, of course, bacon-flavored ice cream.

It won't just be a treat for the tongue. The organizers expect other bacon creations such as soaps, candles and lip balms.

Will you be attending the Bacon Fest? What are your thoughts on bacon ice cream and other sweet foods with bacon in them? Share your comments below...
