One Dead After Car Plows Into Tree In Brentwood

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - One man is dead and another is hospitalized following a car crash on Monday.

Suffolk County police said Kenneth Espada, 24, was behind the wheel of a 1997 Ford Taurus when his car veered across the road and hit a tree.

The crash happened just before 10 a.m. Monday, according to police.

Police said the front passenger, identified as 26-year-old William Smith of Brentwood, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Espada was taken to Southside Hospital in Bayshore with injuries to his face and chest.

The car was impounded for a safety check and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
