Police: S.I. Robbery Suspect Stabbed Woman Before Taking Cellphone

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is looking for a suspect wanted in a violent Staten Island robbery.

Authorities said the suspect approached a 31-year-old woman around 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 25 at the intersection of Lamberts Lane and Globe Avenue in Graniteville and stabbed her in the back with a sharp object, grabbed her cellphone and fled on foot.

The victim was then taken to Staten Island University Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is described a Hispanic man, about 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds. Authorities also released surveillance video of the suspect in the hope that someone will be able to identify him.
