L.I. Boy Begins Season On All-Girls Field Hockey Team
SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 14-year-old Long Island boy is thrilled to be back playing field hockey with the girls.
Keeling Pilaro fought for his place as the only boy on an all-girls varsity team on Long Island earlier this year.
Long Island does not have any boys' field hockey teams and Pilaro had been denied permission to compete this fall on the basis that he was too skilled to play against girls.
The ruling was overturned in May.

Pilaro finished the first week of the new season playing three games for Southampton High School.
"It was a lot of fun just to be playing again," Keeling said, adding that he didn't dominate as feared. "I scored once."
The high school freshman, who weighs 85 pounds and stands just shy of 5-feet-tall, will be evaluated every season.
"I'm happy that he's able to participate in a sport that he's very passionate about," father Andrew Pilaro said. "I'm happy to take it one game at a time."
