Jets Linebacker Bart Scott Blows Up At Media Member Dan Leberfeld

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - On Friday, Jets linebacker Bart Scott had to be separated by team personnel from Dan Leberfeld of Jets Confidential.

The bizarre altercation happened inside the Jets' locker room, and Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post tweeted the following about the heated exchange:

-Bart Scott just had to be separated from reporter Dan Leberfeld in the locker room. Bizarre scene.

-Jets PR guy Bruce Speight stepped in front of Scott. Only thing that seemed to prevent fisticuffs.

-Incident triggered by Leberfeld taking a phone pic of Scott, who responded by telling him to "get a life." Threats & puffed chests ensued.

-"Yeah, and I'll sue you!" Scott responded: "I don't care!"

Scott has refused to speak with the media after proclaiming his unhappiness at the way the New York media has painted the Jets.  Some media outlets, including the New York Post, have branded the Jets as a circus.

Leberfeld joined WFAN's Mike Francesa to talk about Friday's incident and tell his side of the story.

"Bart is angry at the press for calling the Jets a circus," Leberfeld told Francesa. "The guy who started the circus talk was Brandon Jacobs in the middle of August in San Francisco. Bart is angry at the press for something that his friend started."

Leberfeld said he wasn't aware of Scott cursing at him on Wednesday.  Neil Best of Newsday tweeted that Scott cursed at Leberfeld on Wednesday.

"I wasn't aware of him cursing at me," Leberfeld said.

Francesa shared his thoughts on Scott.  "Who cares if he talks?  Why doesn't he try playing better?  I don't know why everyone makes such a big deal over Bart Scott anyway.  Bart Scott to me is a waste of time," Francesa said.

Scott's blow up is the latest in a number of Jets controversies and distractions this season.

The Jets released a statement on Friday afternoon:  "We work hard to foster an appropriate working environment.  We regret this incident and are reviewing the matter. "
