Charles Barkley On Amar'e, Carmelo: 'It's Not Going To Work, It's Not Going To Click'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Well Sir Charles is back at it again.

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley criticized the Knicks in a season preview video on NBA.com, saying that the Brooklyn Nets are the best team in New York.

Why isn't the 11-time NBA All-Star high on the Knicks?

For starters, he still isn't sold on the Carmelo Anthony-Amar'e Stoudemire duo.

"It's not going to work, and it's not going to click," Barkley said of the All-Stars on NBA.com. "I'm not a believer that a leopard can change its spots."

New York is 30-33 in the regular season when Anthony and Stoudemire are on the floor together, and just 1-7 when pairing together in the postseason.

The always outspoken Barkley doesn't see the Knicks improving much, if at all.

"They're both very good offensive players -- Carmelo is a great offensive player -- and Amar'e is a very good offensive player," the five-time All-NBA First Team selection said. "But I don't think all of a sudden they're going to become great rebounders and great defenders. (The Knicks) don't rebound the ball well and they're not a good defensive team. I really think that's going to be their downfall, and I don't foresee them getting better, to be honest with you."

Barkley also expressed skepticism about the decision to bring Marcus Camby and Jason Kidd to Manhattan.

"I love that (move) if it was 2000," he said in regard to the acquisitions of the veteran players. "I'm not so sure that I like it in 2012."

This is hardly the first time that Barkley has spoken harshly of the Knicks. On April 19, he told WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton that "The Knicks still stink, dude. They're not going anywhere (in the playoffs), they're gonna be one-and-done."

And last year, as a guest on the "Late Show with David Letterman," the NBA analyst for TNT proclaimed that New York may have "the worst defensive team ever."

Is Sir Charles right, or does he just love to rip the Knicks? Sound off with your thoughts and comments below...
