"I think it's the center of the world, it's great," a New Yorker told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck on Wednesday.

The legendary avenue runs from Washington Square Park all the way to the Harlem River at 142nd Street.

It's home to such landmarks as St. Patrick's Cathedral, Saks Fifth Avenue, the Empire State Building and high-end shops like Cartier and Louis Vuitton. The flagship Apple store is also on Fifth.

"[We] designate Fifth Avenue as a great street because of its historic landmark properties, museums, parks plus the role that it plays in economic vitality," Jeff Soule of the American Planning Association told Schuck.

Fifth Avenue is also known as Museum Mile for a stretch along Central Park.
