Jets Place LB Mauga On Season-Ending IR, Sign DL Muir

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Jets have placed linebacker Josh Mauga on season-ending injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle, and signed veteran defensive lineman Daniel Muir.

Mauga was injured in the Jets' 23-17 loss to Houston on Monday night and left MetLife Stadium with his right arm in a sling. He was a key backup and one of New York's top special teams players.

Muir joins the Jets after spending training camp with Green Bay. He was signed by the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2007 and played in three games as a rookie. He then played four seasons for the Indianapolis Colts. Muir adds depth to the Jets' defensive line with starter Sione Po'uha (back) and backup Kenrick Ellis (knee) dealing with injuries.

The Jets lost their top defensive player, cornerback Darrelle Revis, to a season-ending ACL tear earlier this season.
