Family Searches For Anonymous Lifesaver

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Flyers have popped up around Manhattan, as a family searches for the anonymous good Samaritan who helped save a life in Midtown.

The redheaded man conducted CPR on Jason Kroft, 40, when he went into cardiac arrest at Sixth Avenue and 45th Street on Oct. 5.

"A gentleman sprung into action, put his briefcase underneath Jason's head and began compressions right there on the street," Kroft's brother-in-law Adam Zeller told WCBS 880's Monica Miller.

Zeller said they never got to thank the good Samaritan, who appeared to be in his 40s.

"I put up the signs because as a family member, we just really want to reach out and thank this man. He's our hero," Zeller told Miller.

Doctors said without the quick action by the anonymous man, Kroft would have died.

Kroft is expected to make a full recovery and return home to Toronto with his wife and two young children.
