Report: Homeless Man Indicted In Hudson River Park Sex Assault Blames 'Four Loko'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A homeless convicted sex offender accused of raping a woman in Hudson River Park said he blacked out after drinking too many Four Lokos, an alcoholic energy drink, according to a published report.

Jonathan Stewart was indicted Tuesday on predatory sexual assault, rape and other charges.

He was arrested in September after police said he beat and choked a 21-year-old woman and then dragged her into some bushes at the park and raped her.

The victim was eventually able to get away and alerted police. Stewart was found a short time later hiding in some bushes, officials said.

"The defendant is accused of violently raping a young woman in a public park, where she was seeking peace and solitude," District Attorney Cy Vance said in a statement.

But Stewart says he couldn't remember what happened the night of the alleged incident.

He told police he had consumed five cans of the alcohol-laced energy drinks, passed out and woke up in police custody, according to a report in the Daily News.

"Did I do something wrong, because I don't remember because I had Four Lokos," the Daily News said Stewart told arresting officers. "I don't know what's going on. I just woke up."

He said he had been partying with his cousin at the Baruch Houses on the Lower East Side.

"I drank five Four Lokos, Grey Goose Vodka, smoked marijuana and K2," Stewart said, according to the paper.
