Police said the three suspects had committed a robbery. A description went out over the police radio, and a police sergeant on foot saw the suspects' vehicle coming right at him.
The vehicle was going the wrong way down East 115th Street, and the sergeant said he saw someone in the car pull what looked like a gun at him.
In response, the sergeant pulled out his gun and fired one time. No one was hit by bullets.
But the wrong-way vehicle went on to crash into a car going in the right direction.
The suspects' vehicle veered off the road and came to a stop in front of the housing complex.
Two guns were recovered following the crash.
