Penn Jillette Pens New Book On Atheism

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The larger, louder half of legendary magic act Penn & Teller, and New York Times-bestselling author of God, No!, is back with a new collection of spiritual rants and hilarious ravings - the perfect year-round gift, when you consider that Every Day Is an Atheist Holiday.

Penn Jillette visited The Couch to talk about his journey to becoming an atheist, how how he relates to those who do believe in God, and of course - his new book.

The famous magician became an atheist after reading The Bible cover to cover as a teenager.

"I was bothered by the stuff like, you know, God saying to Abraham to kill his son. If you told me right now to kill my child, my answer to you would be two words, and they wouldn't be 'Merry Christmas.'"

"What's interesting to me is that morality trumps religion," Jillette said. "As soon as someone says 'God is good' they said that good is something we can judge God by. If Satan were the big guy, we would not automatically say everything he said is good."
