FBI Agents Raid City Hall In Union City

UNION CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - City Hall in Union City, New Jersey was raided by FBI agents Wednesday morning.

The reason for the raid has not been made public and the FBI said the investigation is ongoing.

The agents focused on the city's Community Development Agency, WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported.

The raid began at 8 a.m. and agents spent the entire morning inside City Hall, Smith reported.

At the end of the raid around midday, FBI officials loaded boxes of seized items into several unmarked cars and took off.

Computers, files and other records were reportedly seized in the raid.

An FBI spokesperson said the nature of the probe will not be made public until the investigation has ended.

Union City Mayor Brian Stack, who is also a state senator, did not return calls for comment, Smith reported.
