Experts: Black Friday Deals Are Already Happening Now
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week, and many who love to shop can't wait until the day after, known as Black Friday.
But some say there is no need to wait, and you can grab the deals right now, as CBS 2's Cindy Hsu reported.
Shoppers could not wait to tell Hsu about the great deals they found. Amy Dixon grabbed a coat from New York & Company.
"I got this jacket today, and it was normally $130. It was 30 percent off, and then with my coupon, I got it for like $49," Dixon said.
"H&M has buy-one-get-one-free sweaters," another woman said.
Anastasia Anderson grabbed a jacket on super-sale, but was really excited about the deal on her eyelashes.
"My eyelashes were, like, normally $100. They look really natural, so they're, like, really good quality. I got it for like $30 on Groupon," she said.
Candace Corlett is a retail strategy expert, and said the discounts you will find right now – and even through Black Friday and Christmas – will be deeper than ever.
"When there are catalysts like an election that has shoppers focused on their money, and a natural disaster on Sandy that has shoppers focused on their money, resources realize that they're going to have to do extraordinary things to bring shoppers out of their homes and get them out shopping," said Corlett, of WSL Strategic Retail.
Even online, you can already see exactly what is on sale next week for Black Friday. Brittany Brown is a shopping expert, and said the competition to get consumers to spend is so strong, if you see a great deal now, go for it.
