Brooklyn Sandwich And Yogurt Shop Robbery Suspect Nabbed, Charged With 10 Counts

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police have arrested a man suspected in a dozen ice cream and sandwich shop armed robberies over the past month.

Robert Colson, 47, was arrested on Friday at a motel after an anonymous Crimestoppers tip was called in.

Police said Colson, of 861 East 21st Street in Brooklyn, displayed a gun and demanded money at a string of stores.

He is accused of holding up the same Park Slope Tasti-D-Lite yogurt shop three times, according to police. He is also suspected in the robbery of a Blue Marble Ice Cream shop and several Subway sandwich locations, police said.

The first robbery was reported on Oct. 17. The most recent incident was on Nov. 5, according to police. Surveillance pictures and video of two incidents were released by police during the investigation.

Colson was arrested without incident at the Linden Motor Inn at 714 Conduit Boulevard, police said. He has been charged with first degree robbery for ten armed hold-ups.

Charges are pending in two other incidents, according to police.
