Harassment Charges For NYPD Sergeant

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New York City police sergeant stood charged with harassment Wednesday, reportedly after pestering a woman with calls and text messages.

NYPD Sgt. John Randazzo, 44, was arrested Tuesday in the 13th Precinct – which includes the Flatiron District, Gramercy Park, and Stuyvesant Town. He was charged with harassment, police said.

DNAInfo reported he called and texted a woman he knew, leading to the charges. The relationship between Randazzo and the woman was not clear, DNAInfo reported.

Randazzo's arrest came the same day that another NYPD sergeant -- Besemah Rogers, 42 – was also arrested and charged with assault on the Lower East Side.

The New York Post reported Rogers was helping her daughter board a Ming An bus to Savannah, Ga., when she got into an argument with another woman over a spot in the baggage compartment on the bus. Rogers' daughter insisted her mother never punched the woman, and told the Post the other woman smacked her in the face.
