8 Families Left Homeless After Orange, N.J. Fire

ORANGE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Eight displaced families were receiving help from the American Red Cross Saturday after a raging fire in Orange, N.J.

The powerful Friday morning fire forced residents at 218 Main St. out of their homes.

Everyone inside was able to escape the flames without serious injury. But the blaze gutted the upper-floor apartments in the building and severely damaged first-floor businesses.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday.
