Officer Hit, Injured By Car In Times Square

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A New York City police officer was struck by a car in Times Square on Tuesday evening.

The accident happened around 7:15 p.m. in front of 3 Times Square. The officer was trying to make a traffic stop on foot along Seventh Avenue between 42nd and 43rd streets, when the car hit him and fled, police told 1010 WINS.

The officer was treated for minor neck and back injuries at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center, police said.

The driver remained on the loose as of Tuesday night.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle.
