Police Search For Man Who Punched 2 Women On N Train

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have launched a search for a man who tried to put his arm around two women on the N train last week, and punched them each in the face when they rejected his advances.

Around 4 p.m. this past Thursday, man approached the first victim – a 27-year-old woman – on the Queens-bound N train near 31st Street and Broadway. He started talking to her and tried to put his arm around her, prompting her to push him away.

When she did, the man punched her in the face.

Soon afterward, the suspect sat next to a 32-year-old woman, and tried to hug her. When she pushed him away, he also punched her in the face.

The suspect then got off the train and fled.

Police did not specify whether the incidents happened on the same train car, or whether the first victim witnessed the second incident.

The man is described only as Hispanic and between the ages of 40 and 50. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers, at (800) 577-TIPS, submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Web site, or texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and entering TIP577.
