'50 Shades! The Musical' Coming To Gramercy Theatre

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The erotic bestseller "Fifty Shades Of Grey" is coming to the stage.

A parody of the novel titled "50 Shades! The Musical" is coming to the Gramercy Theatre for a two-day run after selling out in Chicago.

The audience may not get much bang for its buck, 1010 WINS' John Montone reported. The play has plenty of singing and dancing, but no nudity, bondage or spanking -- much to the disappoint of the popular bondage romance novel's fans.

"I think you are actually missing out on what the book is about," one fan said. "That is the main part of the book."

"Fifty Shades of Grey," the first book of a trilogy by E.L. James, swept the nation and has apparently changed marriages since its release in 2011. The series has sold over 65 million copies worldwide. A movie also is said to be in the works.

The book is a love story written from the view of college student Anastasia Steele, who falls for wealthy businessman Christian Grey, a character with a proclivity for sadomasochism.

Grey ties are used in the book — and they're not for fashion.

The musical spoof, featuring 11 original songs, will have one showing on Friday night and two showings on Saturday. Tickets are selling for as much as $50.
