Rye Super Sentenced To 6 Years For Having Sex With Tenant's Labrador Retriever

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The superintendent at a suburban New York housing complex has been sent to prison for entering a tenant's apartment and having sex with a Labrador retriever.

Kujtim Nicaj, 44, of Rye was sentenced Tuesday to 6 1/2 years behind bars, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said.

Nicaj pleaded guilty in October to burglary as a sexually motivated felony and to sexual misconduct.

Prosecutors said the incident was captured in February on cameras set up by the apartment owner, who suspected someone had been breaking in.

DiFiore said Nicaj will have to register as a sex offender.

"This defendant engaged in behavior that is not only reprehensible but also was abusive to someone's pet," said DiFiore after Nicaj's guilty plea. "Taking advantage of a helpless animal is an act of depravity which has often been a predictor of violence against humans."

Nicaj had been fired as superintendent Rye Colony Cooperative Apartments.
