Sree Tips: Online Video Tutorials

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Online videos are very popular, but the web is filled with music videos and funny items like waterskiing squirrels and dancing monkeys. However, there are videos that can help you actually learn something, too.

Sree Sreenivasan, tech expert from our partner network CNET and Columbia University's chief digital officer, was here with some video tutorial sites you should know about.

They're a great way to learn a new skills or re-master an old one.

Sree's first recommendation was VideoJug.com. The motto is "Get Good At Life," with more than 60,000 free videos - everything from food and drink to DIY topics.

Next was Howcast.com. It's similar to VideoJug, but with more emphasis in the mobile space, with more than 2 million downloads across iPhone, iPad, and Android.

Finally, there was KhanAcademy.org. There are more than 3,800 videos to learn math, finance, history, and more. The non-profit site is supported by Gates Foundation. Every kid in grade school should know this site.
