NYPD Hunts Brutal Robbery Suspects In Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The NYPD is asking for your help identifying at least four people caught on video pummeling a man.

At least four teen boys, 15-18, were caught on surveillance video attacking a man.

Police said it happened at around 5:20 p.m. Jan. 13. on Westervelt Avenue near Hamilton Avenue in St. George.

The video shows the man standing on the curb as the group walks up. Suddenly, one of the teens leaps toward the man and starts punching him. After three punches, the teen hurls the victim into the middle of the street. Two others of the group join in on the attack, punching and kicking the man as he tries to get back on his feet and to the sidewalk. The brutal attack continues as the man is kicked repeatedly in the head.

Police say the victim, 52, had his cell phone stolen.
