WESLEY HILLS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Rockland County arrested a 66-year-old man Friday in the death of his girlfriend early Friday morning in what officials called a "brutal, heinous crime."

The victim, Cecile M. Garbarino, was found unconscious on the floor of a bedroom inside 171 Grandview Avenue in Wesley Hills, the residence where the couple lived.

Suspect Charged With Second-Degree Murder

Authorities responded to the scene around 12:45 a.m. Friday.

The suspect, Riad Dib, is accused of hitting the 68-year-old grandmother dozens of times with his fists and a shoe.

When Garbarino called 911, Dib continued to beat and kick her, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported.
