Police Catch Queens Rape Suspect As He Jumps Turnstile

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Tuesday arrested a rape suspect in Queens, after they allegedly caught him trying to jump the turnstile at the Jamaica Center subway terminal.

Officers were patrolling the Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer terminal, which serves the E, J and Z trains, at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday. Officer Timothy Russo, who just graduated the police academy just this past January, saw a man jump the turnstile, police said.

Russo immediately arrested the man – Kenny Campbell, 30, of 110-00 Liverpool St. in Queens – and later found out he was wanted for a rape in August 2012 in south central Queens.

In the attack, the suspect broke into a woman's home, choked her with an electrical cord, and raped her, police said.

Campbell was charged with rape and theft of service.
