Pair Of Teens Arrested In Disturbing Fight Between Girls, 6 And 7

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two teen girls have been arrested in connection with an online video in which a young girl was encouraged to beat up another.

The two juveniles, ages 14 and 15, have both been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after being questioned by the Bronx Special Victims Unit.

The teens that were charged were apparently at the scene and egged the girls on during the fight, sources told CBS 2.

The fight was between a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old at Poe Park in the Grand Concourse section of the Bronx.

Many who've seen the video are glad to hear people are being held responsible for the senseless violence.

"Separate the fight. Why would you let them kill each other like that?" Luis Polanco said.

"The video was very upsetting because I have nieces and nephews the same age," Krizia Aponte said.

Police are also questioning the 17-year-old sister of the younger girl. Authorities said the teen recorded the fight on her phone and posted it on an online hip hop website, CBS 2's Hazel Sanchez reported. She has yet to be charged.

Investigators said the 17-year-old initiated the fight to settle a dispute between the two young girls' older sisters, who had an altercation during winter break.

The 7-year-old girl got the worst of it. She was slapped and her hair was pulled for an extended period of time. That girl can be heard trying to avoid the brawl. In the end, the 7-year-old burst into tears.

Police are also searching for a fourth teen who was at the scene, sources said.
