Police Probe Woman's Death In Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police Sunday were trying to figure out how a woman died inside her home in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn.

A neighbor discovered Elizabeth Borst, 55, passed out in her home in the 300 block of Clinton Street in Brooklyn late Friday night.

Police and paramedics responded and took Borst to Long Island College Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said Borst's death is not believed to be a homicide, and a death investigation is underway.

Earlier reports indicated that she had suffered head trauma, police said. Neighbors also noted that she often kept the door unlocked.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office will conduct an autopsy.
