Man Stable After Being Slashed On Midtown Subway Platform

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police are hunting for the man who slashed someone on the subway platform at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue.

In the middle of the busy lunch rush on Thursday, Delawar Hosen, who sells snacks and newspapers on the downtown 6 train platform, saw two men having some sort of argument that got physical.

"I said 'Don't fight. Don't fight.' Nobody listen, you know," he told WCBS 880 reporter Alex Silverman.

He didn't see the actual slashing.

"No. I no see. But he open shirt. I saw he's cut," he said.

Police said the victim was slashed in the arm and chest area, but is now stable at a hospital.

The slasher ran off and it was unclear whether he ducked into a train or out an exit. The station is crowded and has several different levels.

Police haven't released a description of the suspect, but the vendor said he was about 40-years-old and wearing black.
