Man Admits Stealing Bronze From Bronx Cemetery Mausoleums
NEW YORK (AP) - A man has admitted to stealing bronze from dozens of mausoleums at a Bronx cemetery.
Louis Peduto pleaded guilty to grand larceny on Monday.
In exchange, he agreed to enter a drug treatment program.
He had been accused of removing $150,000 worth of bronze from 65 mausoleums at St. Raymond's Cemetery between Feb. 15 and Feb. 18.
The New York Post reports that under the plea deal, Peduto admitted to hauling off about $1,000 worth of bronze.
Peduto's attorney said her client entered the plea because he couldn't afford to post $1,000 bail.
