Nassau Cops Gear Up For St. Patrick's Day DWI Crackdown

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Police on Long Island will mark the St. Patrick's Day holiday looking for those who celebrate too much.

"We all know how this is a phenomenal holiday and people do like to indulge in alcoholic beverages," Nassau County Police Inspector Ken Lack told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

So, the county is adding extra DWI patrols beginning tonight and through the weekend, and the message is clear.

"Be safe. Have a good time. Don't drink and drive. If you do, we'll be out there and you'll be arrested," Lack said.

He said they're only trying to keep the holiday fun and safe for everybody.
