NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It’s March 18, and Tim Tebow is still a member of the NFL.
But if that changes — and it certainly could — the Jets backup quarterback will have at least one club knocking on his door from the Arena Football League.READ MORE: Over A Third Of States Are Ending COVID-19 Mask Mandates
“Tim would certainly want to first exhaust his opportunities in the NFL, but we’d love to have him,” Orlando Predators owner Brett Bouchy told the Orlando Sentinel.
The Jets have been mum on the future of Tebow, pointing only to his status on the team’s roster. But according to multiple reports, New York plans to release the 25-year-old if it can’t find a trading partner. The Jaguars were thought to be Tebow’s next best option in the pros, though Jacksonville’s new general manager slammed the door shut on the hometown hero in January.
So would Tebow be willing to suit up in the AFL?

“Whenever Tim is willing, we have a contract waiting for him to sign,” the Predators owner said.
The Jets have Mark Sanchez in the mix with “a little bit of a leg up” in the quarterback competition, according to new offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg. They signed veteran David Garrard to compete for the job, and are reported to have interest in Kevin Kolb. Week 16 starter Greg McElroy and Matt Simms are also on the roster.
That doesn’t leave much room for the high-profile Tebow, who wasn’t given much of a chance in 2012 as the No. 2 guy.
“I think (Tebow) would definitely improve as a quarterback in our league,” said Bouchy. “Kurt Warner told me once that when he got back to the NFL after playing in the Arena League, the NFL game was like slow motion. Everything in the Arena League is just so much faster and quicker and predicated on accuracy.”MORE NEWS: 3 Teens Charged In Manhattan Subway Attacks, Police Release Video Of New Suspect Believed To Be Group's Lookout
