Hundreds Of Families Still Stuck In Hotels After Sandy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency has been scrambling to find homes for hundreds of families displaced by Superstorm Sandy, who have been living in hotels for months.
As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, five months after Sandy, more than 2,000 people displaced by the storm remained in hotels. The New York Times reported that FEMA has been shelling out an average of $251 per night for some 900 households.

City Councilman Brad Lander (D-39th) said it has been a challenge finding people housing that is affordable.
"A lot of those folks who were displaced by Sandy were also very poor," Lander said.
City Commissioner of Homeless Services Seth Diamond said since the storm, 400 families have been moved.
"And we're making a very aggressive attempt through the month of April to remove, to move the remaining families," he said.
Some homeless advocates wonder if future storm preparations should include rental assistance, rather than hotel bills.
