Cops: Florida Man Killed By Subway Train At UWS Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 23-year-old Florida man is dead after being hit by a subway train on the Upper West Side.

Just after 5 a.m. Thursday, police said Bobby Legrand Guin from Mary Esther, Florida was hit by a northbound local A train at the West 109th Street and Central Park West station.

He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's still unclear how Guin ended up on the tracks. Police are still investigating.

Earlier this year, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer said the city was on pace for 100 train-related deaths in 2013 — almost twice as many as last year.

On March 26, a teen from Long island was hit and killed by a subway train at the 79th Street station when police he attempted to run across the tracks to get to the opposite platform.

On March 17, a man was struck after witnesses said he apparently jumped in front of an N train.

Stringer had called on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority inspector general to investigate and come up with possible solutions.
