Unlicensed Driver Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Accident

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police have charged a man in an early Saturday morning fatal hit-and-run crash in Harlem.

Boubacar Bathily, 53, turned himself in and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving without a driver's license and failure to exercise due care, police said.

According to police, Bathily hit a pedestrian, identified as Taja Johnson, 21, around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The incident happened at West 133rd Street and 8th Avenue.

According to police, Bathily was headed south on Frederick Douglass Boulevard when he hit Johnson, of Mount Vernon.

Johnson was pronounced dead on arrival at Harlem Hospital.
