Actress & Host Alison Sweeney Debuts New Novel

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- These days, we're used to seeing Alison Sweeney as the host of The Biggest Loser, but now the former Days of Our Lives cast member -- and mother of two -- is debuting a juicy novel that peels back the curtains on Hollywood.

"The Star Attraction" marks Sweeney's debut as a fiction writer. Her previous book, "The Mommy Diet," focuses on ways to get and keep physically and mentally healthy, while also offering ways to stay in shape during pregnancy and how to slim down after having a child in a positive, attainable way.

For her, the switch to fiction was a thrill.

"It was so fun to put together a novel about characters that I was really invested in," Sweeney said. "I love to read summer, beachy, fun reads, and that was what I wanted to write."

The main character in the book is Sophie, a high-strung Hollywood publicist.

"It's affectionately based, loosely, on my best friend, who's a publicist," said Sweeney. "We have a few other friends who are publicists too, so a lot of the stories are actually not that far from things that have happened on real red carpets, and experiences we have seen together."
