Ex-Teacher Faces Jail Time After Guilty Plea In Statutory Rape Case

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - A former sixth-grade English teacher is facing jail time after pleading guilty to the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says 36-year-old Daniel Reilly will be sentenced on July 22. He faces six months in jail and ten years' probation.

Reilly also will be required to surrender his teaching license and register as a sex offender.

He had sex with the former student at his Forest Hills home in April.

The family contacted school authorities after the victim's sister saw sexually explicit text messages on her phone.

Reilly taught at Intermediate School 237 in Flushing.
